Small and medium-sized enterprises have strong innovation vitality and development toughness, and are important forces to promote high-quality development of the national economy. In recent years, China has attached great importance to the cultivation of small and medium-sized enterprises. In the 2022 government work report, it was first proposed to focus on the cultivation of specialized and new enterprises, and give strong support in building a funding and talent incubation platform. Guiding SMEs to take the path of digital transformation and development is a strategic measure to promote high-quality development of SMEs and consolidate and strengthen the foundation of the real economy. Zhu Chunxia, deputy director of Beijing Communications Administration, said at the meeting that to realize the digital transformation of SMEs, it is necessary to combine government, enterprises, industry, education and research, and take the power of the whole society to actively build a digital transformation ecosystem with Chinese characteristics. At present, the scale of China’s digital economy industry has been the second largest in the world for several years. The digital economy has the attribute of scale economy, and has the characteristics of promoting the rapid flow of various resource elements, accelerating the integration of market players, which can effectively help SMEs break the time and space constraints, obtain demand information, extend the industrial chain, and achieve equal competition and mutual benefit with large enterprises. With the innovation of cloud computing, Internet of Things, big data and other new generation infrastructure construction, digital economy has made new breakthroughs in all aspects of China’s economic and social development, bringing many opportunities and challenges for the survival and development of SMEs. Wu Hequan, academician of the CAS Member, believes that China’s SMEs still face the problem of financial constraints. According to the World Bank’s estimate, 41% of China’s SMEs have credit difficulties, and the actual proportion may be higher. Small and medium-sized enterprises in the industrial chain have low profit margins, few high-end talents and weak core competitiveness. These challenges still exist. Small and medium-sized enterprises are the base of the national economic pyramid and the embodiment of national resilience. Whether a country can cope with uncertain changes depends largely on small and medium-sized enterprises. Zhao Zhongxin, vice president and secretary-general of China Communications Enterprise Association, believes that from the economic development of China’s information and communications industry in the first half of the year, the general trend of development has turned from good to stable to fast, which has helped China’s high-quality development, and the income and profits of small and medium-sized enterprises have reached new historical highs. In addition, while playing a positive role, SMEs are also constantly reforming and innovating, looking for new business types and new development models, and promoting digital transformation and development to enhance their core competitiveness. |
